Holyoke’s promising future of progress and prosperity would not be possible without the City’s past. As one of the nation’s first planned industrial Cities in the nation, Holyoke powered its many manufacturers from the hydroelectric unit built on the Connecticut River. Today, the City has a diverse economic base, which includes a dynamic manufacturing community and region’s largest retail center, the Holyoke Mall. The City has an active economic development strategy to attract new businesses and to retain and expand the City’s existing businesses. Holyoke and the businesses within the City are getting results through a variety of Federal, State, and Local incentive and financing programs.
Holyoke has identified six Economic Development priorities designed to promote business growth throughout the City.
In order to realize these priorities the City has initiated a variety of programs and services.
